Book Two, Chapter 75: Priming

It’s the last day of February and the first day of priming the Charles Street walls, a milestone for Joshua and me. Two weeks of scrubbing walls, sanding down gloss, and spackling nail holes are behind us.

Perhaps the priming of my life has begun, too, with Ernie as my higher power. I was almost out of life, but he’s breathing life into me.

We had forty years of togetherness, the way we were. We will be together, the way we are now, as long as I breathe.
