ERNIE AND ERNESTINA: Searching
Book Two, Chapter 310: The Honesty Habit
On her way to the family’s Thanksgiving celebration, my sister Jude leaves me a message. “Happy Thanksgiving. I hope we see you at John’s. If not, I have a few small gifts I’d like to bring you.”
I don’t take her call because I’m just headed out for a walk. I call her back about four and leave a message for her. “Joshua and I are in a reflective mood. This is a sad season for us. I’ll see you, talk to you soon. But not now.”
Why don’t I just tell Jude that Joshua and I are at odds with each other? Why is it so hard for me to be honest?
Because I’ve rarely been honest with myself or with anyone else before, and it’s a hard habit to break.
I want to get into the honesty habit. Please, the honesty habit. Let me give myself the honesty habit.
