ERNIE AND ERNESTINA: Searching
Book Two, Chapter 47: Priorities
I’m reading more non-fiction than I ever have. Just now I’m reading Dr. Theodore Rubin’s Overcoming Indecisiveness.
Making our own decisions, Dr. Rubin says, is crucial in forming a sense of self and developing self-esteem. “Decision constitutes full commitment to a favored choice. Every time you make a decision, you own more of yourself. If a situation alters, a change of mind can occur. If it doesn’t, the commitment is unconditional.”
Decision-making. Selfhood. Commitment.
Dr. Rubin emphasizes the importance of priorities. They’re our guides in making decisions.
What are my priorities?
A healthy relationship with myself.
A healthy relationship with Joshua.
That’s it. That’s all I’m working on just now.
